BCM commenced in 1988 when Tony L Burris set up his own 'cottage' industry business in marine insurance and consultancy. An Ocean Yachtmaster since 1980 Tony has over 35,000 N.M. to his credit including crossing the Atlantic 'pond'.

Tony owns a traditional forty foot wooden yacht designed and built before the Second World War. His motto, 'for Boatowners by Boatowners' describes an approach to placing marine insurance cover for clients.

In April 2008 Tony Burris joined forces with Coleman Marine, in Poole under their FSA registration.
